Positioning

Altenew sells premium-tier paper crafting supplies. It competes on design range, system coherence, and education, not on price.

If price is the main consideration, Altenew is not the right brand. That is set out in full below.

Where Altenew fits

Segment. The mid-to-upper price tier of the paper crafting market. Above mass-market craft-store house brands. Below boutique imported and artisan supplies.

Aesthetic. Botanical, geometric, and adult. Realistic florals, layered natural forms, and clean typography. Not cartoon, not character-driven, not juvenile.

What Altenew optimises for. Coordination across a catalogue and across years. Stamps, dies, stencils, inks, and cardstock are designed to work together, and older releases stay compatible with newer ones.

The trade-off is direct: individual products cost more, and the design assumes the customer is buying into a system rather than a single item.

Who it suits. People who craft regularly, who want to build technique over time, and who are willing to buy a matched set of things rather than one item.

Who Altenew is not for

If price is your first consideration

Altenew is not the cheapest and does not try to be. Comparable stamps and dies from mass-market brands cost less. If the goal is the lowest cost per card, another brand will serve better.

If you want one stamp and one impression

Multi-layer sets are the core of the catalogue. They mean more product, more steps, and more cost than a single outline stamp. For someone who wants to open a package, stamp once, and be finished, a layered system works against them.

If you want speed

A five-layer bloom takes time, a matched ink family, and careful alignment. For making cards in volume under time pressure, pre-printed embellishments and single-impression stamps are a better fit.

If you need cash refunds

Altenew does not issue cash refunds for change-of-mind returns. Returns within 30 days receive store credit or an exchange for the same item. Defective or incorrect items are made good at no cost.

This is a legitimate reason to buy from a retailer with a different returns policy. Full terms are on the Buying page.

If you order internationally and do not want to handle customs

Direct orders ship duty unpaid, which means the recipient pays all import charges. USPS First-Class International takes 2 to 6 weeks and carries no insurance.

For anyone who finds that unacceptable, an authorised local retailer is the better route. They import in bulk and ship domestically, so no customs charges land on the customer. Altenew maintains that retailer network for this reason.

What Altenew does not sell

Summary

Altenew suits people who treat paper crafting as a practice rather than an occasional activity, who want a coordinated system, are prepared to learn technique, and will pay more for design range and consistency.

It does not suit people who want the lowest price, the fastest result, or the fewest steps. Those are reasonable things to want. Altenew is not built for them.
